Supplies Needed

Tools and Supplies:

Students need the following tools and supplies to be successful in this class.

• 1″ 3-Ring Binder and Dividers
  This binder is for notes, handouts, and writing assignments. You’ll need at least 3 dividers.
• Pens and/or Pencils
  Whatever you’re comfortable with.
• Notebook Paper
  For notes and writing assignments. (If you’re like me and want lined paper the same size as printed handouts, Amazon has 8.5 x 11″ college rule (500 ct). Most wide rule paper is smaller.

   

• Optional: Composition Book/Spiral Notebook
  Some people prefer writing in a composition book. Wal-mart usually has them for 50¢ each.
• Google Docs Account
  Students need access to a Google Docs account where they may send their writing to me. This makes it easy for me to make comments and suggestions for their work.
• Arts & Crafts Supplies
  Depending on student choices, students may need some basic art supplies like markers, glue, poster board, scissors, etc. Most of these will be things you already have..

Book List:

During our course, we will read and evaluate novels that showcase various writing styles and story elements. Each student will need access to the titles on our Reading List. Books may be purchased, checked out from the local library, or listened to on audiobook. (Amazon links are provided so that there is no confusion about the books.)

We will read a book every 4-6 weeks. A complete list of titles will be created after class begins, according to the interests and reading levels of the students.
